03.02.2026Alas Fire intervenes in Metrobus fire.
On the evening of January 26, 2026, a fire broke out in a metrobus belonging to IETT at the Altunizade Metrobus stop in Istanbul. While passengers were being evacuated from the vehicle, flames began to rise from the engine compartment. The Alas automatic fire extinguishing system on board immediately intervened, bringing the fire under control within the first few seconds.
The beginning of the fire...
The Alas fire suppression system, which activated instantly, extinguished the flames in the engine compartment within seconds, preventing the fire from spreading and averting potentially larger risks. Thanks to this rapid intervention, both passenger safety was ensured and serious damage to the vehicle was minimized. In vehicles used for high passenger transport, such as metro buses, fire risks can suddenly arise, particularly from engine and electrical systems. Therefore, bus and metrobus fire suppression systems stand out not only as safety equipment but also as a critical preventive solution. The systems developed by Alas Fire are designed to provide rapid and effective intervention in such scenarios.
This incident has once again demonstrated how effective aerosol fire suppression technology is in a real field scenario.
Thanks to its automatic detection and intervention capability, the system has ensured safety by controlling the fire without the need for human intervention. At Alas Fire, we continue to protect both lives and property with the solutions we have developed to maximize fire safety in public transportation vehicles and industrial applications. Such real-life events clearly demonstrate the importance of fire extinguishing systems and the critical role of the right technology.
